RHOI funding provided support for renewed fieldwork in the Sahabi Formation of Libya. Co-directors Ahmed Muftah, Muftah Al-Shawaidhi, and Noel Boaz led efforts to better constrain the age of the Sahabi Formation, better understand its structural and depositional contexts, and to sample the fossil content of above, below, and through the formation.

The Sahabi Formation was thoroughly surveyed, resulting in fossil collection at 55 localities, mostly within the U-1 unit.
