Aramis Member localities have been systematically researched by the Middle Awash Project since the early 1990's. Aramis sediments have shed a rich collection of fossil specimens, including a partial skeleton of Ardipithecus ramidus, helping document eastern African faunal evolution in the early Pliocene.
