Gona Escarpment, Ethiopia

RHOI support helped fund extensive fieldwork on the Gona Escarpment beginning in 2003. This fieldwork has included stratigraphic work, geochronological sample collection, survey, and the development of remote sensing ground truth for the area. In 2007, fieldwork consisted of continued survey, excavation, and collection in late Miocene deposits.

RHOI support has also helped fund post-field curation of new specimens at the National Museum of Ethiopia.
